- The Iowa Military Veterans Band is composed of nearly 100 Iowa men and women — all military veterans from WWII up to the current War on Terror.
- These accomplished volunteer musicians represent all branches of the U.S. military.
- The band was created to perform one concert at the 1996 dedication of the Iowa World War II Memorial. The audience’s response encouraged the band to continue and grow.
- The band’s mission is to support Iowa military veterans, their organizations, the state of Iowa and to honor national holidays.
- The band promotes great American composers such as John Philip Sousa, Karl King, Meredith Willson, George M. Cohan and Irving Berlin.
- The Iowa Military Veterans Band is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization and is dependent on the generosity of Iowa businesses and patriotic individuals to operate.
